Musa dajiao

Bring a bold, tropical feel to your space with the Musa dajiao. A vigorous hybrid of Musa sikkimensis and Musa balbisiana, this exceptionally fast-growing banana plant quickly establishes a towering, dramatic presence.

These tall specimens are currently pushing out strong, healthy new growth (see photos). Despite its highly exotic appearance, the Musa dajiao is relatively root-hardy. It can be successfully overwintered outdoors in the ground if well-mulched and wrapped, or lifted and stored dry until spring.

Planting Tip: To keep the magnificent, oversized leaves looking their absolute best, plant in a warm spot sheltered from strong winds.
