Cyathea medullaris now known as Sphaeropteris medullaris and more commonly known as The Black Tree Fern is a very fast growing tree fern in New Zealand. In my opinion one of the most striking tree ferns out there. This highly sort after fern is hard to come by. With large impressive black ribbed fronds up to 5 metres long and a stunning black main trunk.
These tree ferns grow very quickly, keep repotting and keep the soil moist, you will soon have an impressive large species. The fronds will turn darker as the plant matures.
