Cibotium barometz
Cibotium barometz
Cibotium barometz is a tropical tree fern more commonly known as the Golden Chicken Fern, Fiddlehead Fern, or Woolly Fern. This species is densely covered with golden iridescent hairs.
It an extraordinary rare tree fern with fronds up to 2 metres tall! The rhizome is very thick, woody, and covered by long soft, golden yellow hairs, so soft to touch.
I have several of these unusual tree ferns and only selling them when I’m confident they are growing.
You need to be patient, as you can see in photo above, the large frond which has emerged is huge and has taken a few month to to first appear and get this big, for this reason I will be sellIng them when fronds first appear for ease with postage.
They won’t need repotting yet, as roots take time to fill the pot. But very important to keep them moist and humid. These are not hardy so will need special winter care.
